PHOTO CONTESTS NOW

The makers of fine Tamron lenses are holding a photo contest with a focus on sunrises, sunsets or photos taken at night. This is the first in a series of four photo contests that Tamron will be holding in 2010. This amateur and professional photo contest has prizes ranging from the Tamron line up of lenses. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Tamron lens. You can use any lens you want. This is a free photo contest.

The travel folks at Frommers is offering you a chance to be on the cover of Frommers book and $5,000. The winning photographer will receive both of these prizes. There are other prizes available for close contenders. You’ll need to move quickly. The deadline for entries is march 31, 2010. Be sure to present photos that meet the message of Frommers-travel. You may not make their cover with a still life photo of fruit. Show them your best travel photos!

The Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) welcomes photographers from across the globe to submit their photographs into a highly competitive awards program. You will be judged by the World Photographic Academy in the hopes of being recognized by leading industry figures and taking the stage in Cannes to receive one of the 12 prestigious category awards. Photo contest categories include: Architecture, Conceptual, Documentary, Fashion, Landscape, Music, Natural History, Portrait, Sport and Fine Art – among others. The SWPA is open to professional and amateur photographers and is a free photo contest. The deadline is December 4, 2009.

Ricoh is now accepting entries for their 9th photo contest. The theme of this free photo contest is Laughter. Prizes are available for winners and almost winners. The only qualificaiton is that your photo entry be taken with a Ricoh digital camera. Winning photos may appear in Ricoh’s 2010 photography calendar and other high profile marketing events. The deadline for entries in this free photo contest is August 21, 2009.

Nikonians unite! The 2009 Best of Nikonians Images Photo Contest is well underway. Their focus for July’s photo contest is Landscapes. Nikonians, in an effort to promote and recognize as many talented photographers as possible, whose images serve to share, learn and inspire us all holds free monthly photo contests for their members. There are monthly prizes awarded and a final judgement of all the monthly photo contest winners. Grand prizes are awarded at the end of the year.
