National Portrait Gallery’s International Portrait Photo Contest Deadline Approaches
Submissions are now being invited for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2009, which celebrates and promotes the very best in contemporary portrait photography. In the photo contest’s search for excellence, photographers are encouraged to interpret ‘portrait’ in its widest sense. The prizewinners and exhibition will be selected by a distinguished judging panel. The winner of the photo competition will receive £12,000. In addition the judges, at their discretion, will award one or more cash prizes to the shortlisted photographers. New for 2009, ELLE magazine will commission a photographer selected for the exhibition to shoot a feature story. Closing date for online entries is July 6, 2009.

Sony Hosts Free Photo Contests For Exhibit At Cannes 2010 And $25,000 Cash Prize
The Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) welcomes photographers from across the globe to submit their photographs into a highly competitive awards program. You will be judged by the World Photographic Academy in the hopes of being recognized by leading industry figures and taking the stage in Cannes to receive one of the 12 prestigious category awards. Photo contest categories include: Architecture, Conceptual, Documentary, Fashion, Landscape, Music, Natural History, Portrait, Sport and Fine Art – among others. The SWPA is open to professional and amateur photographers and is a free photo contest. The deadline is December 4, 2009.

Free Global Teen Photo Contest Has Over $20,00 In Cash And Prizes
The International Teen Fashion Photo Contest is looking for the next great talent in fashion photography. This free photo contest asks that photos be taken at particular areas in 60 different cities. You don’t have to go to each city to enter. You just have to take the photos in one (or more!) of the 60 cities in this teen fashion photo contest. The Grand Prize winner will walk away with $10,000 in cash and even more in international travel and exhibition opportunities. There are additional cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place contestants. The deadline for entries is October, 2009.
