Be sure to capture your pet in good lighting and in an interesting pose. Take lots of pictures and pay close attention to the areas of focus, particularly the eyes. Try not to use a camera mounted flash as it may cause that terrible red-eye to appear. This is a free photo contest and I know you’re using a digital camera. Hallmark has a free contest. Their contest is seeking submissions for a chance to have a your greeting card design be sold in thousands of stores. This is actually a bit more than a photo contest. Photos, with their accompanying funny texts, can be used to create a greeting card, but you do not necessarily have to use a photo. Bring your graphic design skills and witty repartee and give it a shot. The timeline for submissions is pretty small. Act fast!

The makers of fine Tamron lenses are holding a photo contest with a focus on sunrises, sunsets or photos taken at night. This is the first in a series of four photo contests that Tamron will be holding in 2010. This amateur and professional photo contest has prizes ranging from the Tamron line up of lenses. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Tamron lens. You can use any lens you want. This is a free photo contest.

The travel folks at Frommers is offering you a chance to be on the cover of Frommers book and $5,000. The winning photographer will receive both of these prizes.
